Geomembranes are the most widely used materials for applications concerning the containment of solid waste, including mining operations, landfill liners and water containment.
HDPE (High Density Polyethylene)
HDPE is the most commonly used membrane material for lining applications. When large sheets are required these must be fabricated on-site due to the tendency to crack or crease when folded. It is available in a smooth or textured finish.
Generally smooth HDPE is seen as the optimal solution when an application is required to have low permeability, along with exceptional chemical and ultra-violet resistance properties. Applications for which this may be the best solution include:landfill liners, animal waste containment, power plants and aquaculture projects. It is certified for potable water containment.
Textured HDPE can come with either one or both sides textured. Textured HDPE provides better friction between the liner and subgrade. It also assist workers to walk on the liner as it reduces slipperiness.s it reduces slipperiness.
